Learn to lure fish

This is a fun 2.5-hour trip designed to introduce absolute beginners to lure fishing, and if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll catch your first fish! We depart from Kingsbridge, heading down the estuary towards Salcombe, seeking out the best spots. All equipment is provided.

This is an action-packed 4-hour trip, departing Kingsbridge or Salcombe, exploring the beautiful creeks, and also out towards the mouth depending on weather and tide. Fly-fishing possible as well as lure-fishing at various depths of water. £150 private charter.

Every so often we have a chance to go out fishing for ourselves, and we usually have space for one or two locals (kids or grownups!), who are really keen to do some fishing but might not have access to a boat. If you want to come get your name down on the list!

This is the first and only dedicated spearfishing school in the UK. Set up by Max ‘The Frenchman’ in 2018 it aims to provide the highest level of courses for spearfishing, foraging, freediving during summer months. Based in Plymouth but can arrange local trips.

BAD WEATHER & REFUNDS
We do not take passengers in rough conditions.
If the weather is wet and windy there is usually somewhere we can go and fish that is sheltered, in and around the mouth of Salcombe Estuary and Bolthead, we just recommend wearing the correct clothing! But if the weather is really awful then we may have to cancel all trips, and try and move your booking to a different date.

Can we bring our dog?
Well-behaved and small to medium-sized dogs are very welcome, but only if you the owner are 100% confident that they have sufficient experience in boats (having been in them before), will be well-behaved, and will not bark at other passengers or wildlife!
what is the minimum age for children?
For the family fishing trips in Salcombe there is no minimum age limit for children, if you are confident your child will be happy with the potential rock of the boat. We don’t go out when it’s rough, but we would also prefer not to have to turn back if a child suffers from seasickness for the sake of the other paying passengers on the boat. NB If you are bringing a baby they class as a paying passenger.

CAN I COME IF I’M A TOTAL BEGINNER?
Absolutely! For us all at Salcombe Fishing, you are the main reason we do it, to teach you the right techniques and see the joy on your face when you catch your first fish!
can we book the boat exclusively and sightsee instead of fish?
Yes you can! A few of our guests just want to go for a lovely boat trip around the coast with a picnic, and on a sunny day, what could be better?!
Fishing in Salcombe is always a joy. WHETHER IT’S CATCHING YOUR first Bass or YOUR FOUR HUNDREDTH mackerel, FEELING THE THRILL OF THat BEND IN THE ROD AND TUG ON THE LINE WILL always feels just as special , that’s fishing!
